We will be kicking off the 2018 Fall season with a bang, covering a wide range of topics. Be prepared for an evening chockfull of WordPress facts, fables, forecasts, fun, and frivolity! (Note that each of the discussion topics below has been tagged with a level of WordPress experience.)
6:30 – 7:00 Meet, Greet and Eat! – We’ll share some refreshments (pizza and soft drinks), and do a bit of informal networking.
7:00 – 7:10 Welcome/Introductions
7:10 – 7:30 Gutenberg IS Coming! (ALL levels)
Jonathan May, YourPresenceOnTheWeb.com
Gutenberg, the replacement for the “classic” WordPress page and post editor, is on its way…very soon. Or quite soon. Or, honestly, we don’t know exactly how soon. But there’s no question you need to get ready for it. We’ll talk about what the eventual release of Gutenberg will mean to everyone who uses WordPress, and how to prepare for “the inevitable”.
7:30 – 8:00 Performance Tips and Tricks (ALL levels)
David Heckel, Culver Technologies
Building a good WordPress website is pretty straightforward, but how do you optimize it and make it fast? David will inform us about specific tools and techniques you or your webmaster can apply to your website to make it s-p-e-e-d-y!
8:00 – 8:30 Introduction to Toolset: Custom WordPress Development for Non-Coders (Intermediate to Advanced levels)
Scott Lewis, Lewis Studios
8:30 – 8:50 Open mic and wrap-up (ALL levels)
This will be an opportunity for you to share, well, anything that’s on your mind: a burning technical or design question, a cool site you are launching, a help wanted/available announcement, a war story, a great new theme/plugin you have discovered — it’s all fair game!
